State Jumping Equitation

Individual Competition

Three classes will be held, starting with a simple jumping round and increasing in difficulty (but not height) with each subsequent class. Two classes will be held on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Age Group Maximum Height Ages taken as at the first day of competition.

Awards in each age group are:

  • Ribbons for 1st to 10th place in each age group in each event
  • Champion ribbon for 1st overall in each age group.

13 & under 15 85cm
15 & under 17 90cm
17 & under 25 95cm

State Mounted Games

Club/Zone Championship Teams

Individual Games: Awards to fifth place for Juniors, third place for Associates
Teams: Champion to fifth place for Juniors, third place for Associates

a. Club Teams: FIVE (5) members with no more than one (1) Associate in any Team. Each team are to be members from one Club only. Age is as at first day of competition. The emergency, if not required for all games, must compete in at least three (3) of the games. 

b. Zone Associate Teams: FIVE (5) members in any Team. All team members must be from the one Zone. Age is as at first day of competition. The emergency, if not required for all games, must compete in at least three (3) of the games.

LAYOUT OF COMPETITION ARENA

It is advised that the maximum arena is 100 yards x 80 yards (92 m x 74 m) and the minimum size is 80 yards x 60 yards (74 m x 55 m). There will be a "6 yard line" (5.5 m) behind the start and changeover lines. Riders not involved in a hand-over must keep behind this line. Where possible the arena should be marked out with posts and rope.

There will be ten games with a tiebreaker. The Committee reserves the right to change any or all games.

GAMES & QUALIFYING TIMES

The following qualifying times apply for games to be held at the State Championships. Team must meet the qualifying time in at least five events. Events and times are to be recorded on the entry form for each team. Please refer to the event schedule as some games change each year.

Hurdle Race: 2 minute 10 seconds Five Flag Race: 2 minutes
Postman Chase: 2 minute 20 seconds Rope Race: 1 minute 20 seconds

12 and under 15 years (Novice) C grade
13 and under 15 years (Advanced) B grade
15 and under 17 years (Novice) B grade
15 and under 17 years (Advanced) A grade
17 and under 25 years (Novice) A grade
17 and under 25 years (Advanced) Championship Grade

Individual awards to 10th placing. Where there is a tie (after countback) the ribbon recipient will be decided by the flip of a coin, except for tenth place in which case extra ribbons will be provided.

12 and under 15 years (Novice) 1.2
13 and under 15 years (Advanced) 1.3
15 and under 17 years (Novice) 1.3
15 and under 17 years (Advanced) 2.1
17 and under 25 years (Novice) 2.1

CROSS COUNTRY SPEED

Time for completing the course is calculated at:

Advanced 17 & under 25 years 500 metres per minute
Novice 17 & under 25 years 475 metres per minute
Advanced 15 & under 17 years 475 metres per minute
Novice 15 & under 17 years 450 metres per minute
Advanced 13 & under 15 years 450 metres per minute
Novice 12 & under 15 years 400 metres per minute

Time Limit is twice the time allowed. Periods during which a competitor has been held up by a Jump Judge or Official, will be deducted from the actual time taken, to determine the correct time for completing the course. All jump judges will carry an accurate stopwatch for this purpose. Cross-country courses will be open for inspection to all interested persons at a time to be announced.

OPTIMUM TIME

Riders 17 years and under 25 years do not ride to optimum time. Riders under 17 years will ride to optimum time (time allowed plus nothing less 20 seconds) before a time penalty is incurred. An award for closest to optimum time on the cross-country will be awarded in each group to the rider with a clear cross country round who is closest to the optimum time.

Competition

Zone Teams in each age group

Zone teams will be accepted in all divisions. Teams will consist of seven riders, six riders in two sections per game. All riders must take part in a specified number of games to be advised after the close of entries. The 7th rider may ride in either section in each game in which he/she takes part. The riders in Game 1 are the “team” and the 7th rider is the only rider who can change sections. Teams are to provide two sets of numbers in Zone colours. (Numbers are not to be printed on shirts, i.e. these numbers must be removable).

Rules for NSW Pony Club Competition in PoloCrosse

(For all other rules, refer to the rules of the Australian Polocrosse Association)

For horse identification at the Fitness Check (and Presentation Award) : horses should be presented exactly as shown on the Horse Identification form submitted with their entries. They must NOT be presented in boots, bandages or any other tack that could mask proper identification.

Under 13 years B Grade and above– all nominations accepted.
Under 13 years C Grade – acceptance of nominations up until a total number of entries in this age group reaches 60.
13 and under 15 years A Grade or Championship Grade – all nominations accepted
13 and under 15 years B Grade - acceptance of nominations up until a total number of entries in this age group reaches 60
15 and under 17 years A Grade or Championship Grade – all nominations accepted
15 and under 17 years B Grade - acceptance of nominations up until a total number of entries in this age group reaches 60
17 and under 25 years A or Championship Grade – all nominations accepted
17 and under 25 years B Grade - acceptance of nominations up until a total number of entries in this age group reaches 60

NOTE: All events will be point scoring for Individual, Zone and State Team Championship awards.
