Nationals evening entertainment will include two Musical Rides performed by NSW PCA members in the main indoor arena at SIEC. Riders who would like to be involved should submit an EOI form before 14th Dec.

Commencing 7 October 2019 PCA NSW are hosting the Pony Club National Championships at SIEC. On the opening evening, we are required to provide entertainment during the welcome dinner.

That entertainment will consist of two Musical Rides performed by NSW PCA members on the main indoor arena at SIEC. The Musical Rides will be very similar to those done by the NSW Mounted Police, and also during the Man from Snowy River Arena Spectacular. We are fortunate enough to have the assistance of retired Commander Don Eyb, NSW Mounted Police, who planned and trained those Musical Rides, as well as the 120 horses and riders at the opening of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. We have put a link to some of those Musical Rides on our website and Facebook so that members can what it will look like.

Once EOI’s are received, potential candidates will be invited to attend one of two assessment days will be held in the Sydney area. Riders will then be chosen to be in the Musical Ride Squad and invited to attend a number of practice days held in the Sydney area after that, leading up to the event. At this stage the plan is to select a squad of 20-24 riders and perform a 12 man and a 16 man ride on the night. Every one of those riders will ride in at least one ride.

Riders should be of a suitable standard and must be able to ride at a walk, trot and canter confidently in troop drill, as well as ride using one hand on the reins, as one of the Musical Rides will include holding a lance with a flag. They must also be prepared to attend the several practices in the Sydney area. We are also planning to take the Musical Ride Squad on a “behind the scenes” trip to watch the NSW Mounted Police practice for their Musical Rides at the 2019 RAS.

Horses need to be available from 7-8 October 2019 and will be stabled at Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
