Concussion Education Workshop

The Office of Sport is hosting a Concussion Education Workshop for the Hunter grassroots sports community on Tuesday 5 December 2017 with details on sports-related concussions and how to deal with them.

Presented by Dr Andrew Gardner, Co-Director of the Hunter New England Health Sport Concussion Clinic, the workshop will cover elements around sport-related concussion relevant to grassroots sport, including return to play/activity protocols.

Dr Gardner is a National Health & Medical Research Council Early Career Fellow with the School of Medicine & Public Health and an honorary clinical research fellow with the Hunter New England Local Health District. He is also an Executive Committee Member of the Priority Research Centre for Stroke and Brain Injury at the University of Newcastle and serves as a member of the Australian Rugby Union's Concussion Advisory Group.

The session is highly relevant for coaches, team managers and those with responsibility for junior sport participants (e.g. parents and carers). The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes and will allow time for questions.
