Individual Athlete Program - Southern NSW

Posted: Tue, 7th Aug 2018

The Southern Sports Academy is providing financial scholarships to eligible athletes based in Southern NSW who are achieving a high representation in their chosen sport.

The Southern Sports Academy provides individual scholarships to athletes based in Southern NSW, across a wide range of sports. This year, the Academy is again providing an Individual Athlete Program (IAP) to broaden the reach of our programs and to ensure the athletes that are deserving of support, receive that support.

The IAP is designed to support those athletes who continue to work tirelessly at achieving higher representation in their chosen sport but are not able to access the financial backing that athletes in ‘wealthy’ sports are able to access.

The IAP has also been a major player in assisting a number of Riverina based athletes that have gone on to national representation including Jada Whyman (Soccer – Wagga) and Carly Salmon (Track and Field – Wagga). Other significant Individual Athlete Program scholarship recipients include Meg Senior (Swimming – Wagga) and Krystal Cheesely (Fencing – Wagga).

Attached is an application form for the IAP which includes the criteria and the benefits to be obtained, via the scholarships. The form will also be available for download or online entry via our website (  In essence, the IAP is targeted at those athletes that have reached State level representation in their chosen sport and are aged between 13-18 years.

It would be appreciated if you could disseminate the application forms to relevant athletes and/or promote the respective programs in your newsletters. A closing date of September 7th for receipt of all applications is in place.  A map of our area can be found on our website at

We appreciate your assistance in raising awareness of our programs and look forward to receiving applications in due course.
