Competition is heating up for the PCANSW State Showriding and Dressage Championships
The 2019 Pony Club NSW State Showriding and Dressage Championships will be held at the Murwillumbah Showground from Friday the 25th until Sunday the 27th of January. Hosted by Zone 15 who are the furthest Zone North in NSW, riders will be travelling close the Queensland border for the Championship.
The event has attracted over 140 competitors from around New South Wales who will represent their respective Zones in the competition. There is also a large contingent coming in from across the border in Queensland, so competition will be hotly contested. The State Showriding Championship will start off the competition on the 25th and 26th, followed by the Dressage Championships on the 27th.
Riders will be busy practicing and preparing to travel to the championships with some competitors travelling over 14 hours from Tumut in the South, and 18 riders crossing the border from Queensland. Riders competing are aged between 7 and 24 years of age with over 87% of competitors being female.
The Murwillumbah Showground will be packed out with 105 horses being accommodated in yards on site and powered camping facilities available to cater for all competitors. Spectators are invited to come along and watch competition which starts at 8:00am each morning. There will be a number of trade stands in attendance to allow for some retail therapy. The local Zone 15 will run a Canteen for the duration of the event for breakfast and lunch. A welcome dinner will also be held on the Thursday night to allow families to settle in to the competition in a relaxed atmosphere.
The most successful riders in each Age group will be awarded the 2019 Age Champion award and receive a sash, trophy, HYGAIN feed voucher and Horseland wool rug. The most successful Zone and State will also receive awards with up to 4 of the highest point scoring riders from the same zone receiving a sash and trophy.
